Working as a technician in the marine industry for 15 years I was appalled by the high price and, more importantly, lack of service in the marine industry. Most shops in the Northwest cost around $98 an hour to more than $125 an hour and we simply find that to be ridiculous! Especially when most shops lack qualified technicians and staff their shops with people lacking experience in the industry.

If you go to a “dealer” you are not only paying for labor and shop time, but they also ding you for “shop supplies” and my favorite one of all, the “enviromental disposal fee” (for the last 15 or 20 years recycling companies have actually been paying businesses for their used oil.)
